I am Dr George Obaido
George Obaido completed his PhD in Computer Science in 2020 at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, under the guidance of Prof Abejide Ade-Ibijola and Dr Hima Vadapalli. He also obtained his MSc in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand. His research interests lie at the intersection of Formal Languages and Natural Language Processing Techniques to finding solutions to many, different problems.
Recently, his work focuses on utilising these techniques in Computer Science Education. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of computer science, particularly in the Data Economies and Data Markets Group of the Mechanism Design for Social Good - a multi-institutional initiative using techniques from algorithms, optimization, and mechanism design, along with insights from other disciplines, to improve access to opportunity for historically underserved and disadvantaged communities.
